Upside Down Nap

Wrong side of the bed, for when you're too tired to care that your head is laying where your smelly feet reside.

Car Nap

Hey, sometimes when you get tired at work, give yourself a little break. If anyone gives you guff, you send them to me. I might be sleeping, though, so only if it's absolutely necessary.

Power Naps

Naps don't have to take up much of your day. Today, I found myself reading the Wikipedia page for power naps. Those are quick naps that typically last between 20 to 30 minutes. Keeping the nap this short allows the napper to avoid sleep inertia, which occurs when the napper wakes up in the middle of the normal sleep cycle and causes grogginess and disorientation.

Not surprisingly, studies have shown that power naps can lead to better performance in the workplace. When, oh when, will power naps become a midday standard?!

Benefits of Napping

Found an article about napping at healthcentral.com. It gives an overview of the benefits (and a few drawbacks) of napping.

Some of the benefits, according to this article, may include:

-Work Performance
-Increased Learning
-Driving Performance
-Increased Energy (duh)

The article also describes how our natural biological clock, insomniacs excluded, is not hindered by napping. In other words, napping shouldn't keep you from falling asleep for the night.

I have a Wheezy Waiter video about the benefits of an afternoon nap.

Do you nap? Does it benefit you? Do you find that it's more difficult to fall asleep at night when you napped during the day?

1st Nap

Hmmmm, sometimes I guess I sleep with my eyes open. Creepy.
